Honey Spice Glazed Ham

This Honey Spice Glazed Ham is a wonderful centre piece to any Christmas dinner table (least of which is the fact that it looks incredibly impressive). It’ll also fill your house with the smell of holiday spices as it cooks — enough to put anyone in a festive mood and whet kids’ appetites!

If you really want to go all out, you can stud the ham with cloves and even top it with round pineapple slices and cherry halves.

METHOD

1.

Lift the skin off the ham, but leave the fat and score a diamond pattern.

2.

Combine all ingredients of the glaze with 2 -3 tablespoons of water.

3.

Spread glaze all over the ham and place it in a roasting tin.

4.

Pour water to a depth of 2 cm and bake for 30 minutes.

5.

Remove from oven and add your apple, apricot, and cherries around the ham, and bake for 40-60 minutes. I like to baste the fruit and ham every 10 or so minutes -- it also guarantees you don’t burn the ham.

6.

Once cooked, cover with foil and let it sit for 20 minutes before slicing.
